Frequently Asked Dental Questions in Plano
We’re happy to answer some commonly asked questions about dental care.
If I brush and floss regularly, why should I still see a dentist?
It’s good that you brush and floss every day, but unfortunately, problems can still develop. Despite persistent oral hygiene care, cavities and other complications can arise which often go unnoticed by untrained eyes. Deep cleanings from a dental hygienist will remove the natural buildup of plaque and tartar which can’t be eliminated with simple brushing. Attending regular family dentistry checkups and cleanings with Dr. Antoon at his Plano dental office will help protect your teeth to keep you smiling brightly!
Do you see children?
Yes! Dr. Antoon provides dental care for each member of your family. We offer children’s dentistry to keep growing smiles healthy, and to teach your kids the importance of proper dental hygiene, including brushing and flossing. Dr. Antoon will also be able to check for any problems with the way teeth are growing, and respond as necessary. We like to see children’s dentistry patients at least every six months for regular appointments to help their smile stay in top condition.
Should I replace a missing tooth?
Generally speaking, yes. A missing tooth, or missing teeth, are not only cosmetically unappealing, but can create many dental problems over time. Existing teeth in the smile will usually shift inward to close any gaps, which, changes dental occlusion (the way the top and bottom teeth fit together). This can lead to teeth grinding, crookedness, and other gaps. Replacing a tooth will also replace the natural barrier to prevent teeth from shifting, thus preserving your smile.
How can I replace a missing tooth?
You’ll have to come in for an appointment so that we can recommend what’s best for your unique smile, but Antoon Family Dental offers a variety of restorative dentistry techniques to replace a missing tooth or for missing teeth. Dental implants are a permanent way to fill in your smile, and act by imitating a natural tooth root to anchor a realistic-looking crown. Dental crowns can also hold a custom-made fixed bridge in place, and this procedure can replace one to three missing teeth. Dr. Antoon can also provide dentures or partial dentures to patients who prefer a removable solution for their teeth replacement. Call us today to schedule your appointment.
I don’t have dental insurance. Can I still go to Antoon Family Dental?
Yes! In fact, we have in-house financing to assist uninsured patients and their families. For a low enrollment fee, Plano families or individuals can receive discounted care from Antoon Family Dental. Visit our in-office financing page to learn more.
Do you offer cosmetic dentistry?
Yes! Antoon Family Dental offers a variety of cosmetic dentistry treatments to help patients enhance their healthy smiles. For minor chips or cracks, our Plano team can use cosmetic bonding and shaping with a dental resin that matches the shade of your existing teeth. If you would like to shield a lackluster tooth (or teeth) from view, our porcelain veneers can help by creating the appearance of a naturally beautiful tooth. To simply upgrade your smile, ask us about in-office or take-home teeth whitening. Dr. Antoon is ready to help you create the smile of your dreams.
