Sedation Available

If you struggle with fear or anxiety related to dentistry, you should know that having your smile cared for doesn’t have to make you feel uncomfortable. We offer three options for comforting sedation to help you relax throughout any procedure:

Learn More About Sedation Dentistry

  • Nitrous oxide: Breathe in this “laughing gas” to feel light, tingly, and maybe even happy to be at the dentist’s office. The effects take over quickly and wear off almost as soon as the mask is removed.
  • Oral conscious sedation: For longer procedures or more significant dental fear, we can prescribe a medication for you to take about an hour before your appointment. Its effects will have taken over by the time you are relaxing in the dental chair.
  • IV sedation: For a deeper level of relaxation, try IV sedation — a method in which we can administer the medication directly into your bloodstream. This type of sedation is easily adjusted as needed throughout your procedure.

Intraoral Cameras

As we work to communicate important information or explain why we are recommending a certain treatment, it is much easier when we can just show you precisely what is going on in your mouth. An intraoral camera is a small, handheld tool that helps by displaying images of your teeth directly onto a screen at your chairside. Most patients find it is easier to ask questions and understand their oral health needs thanks to the intraoral camera.

Digital X-Rays

Just like everything else, dentistry is going digital — and digital X-rays are a significant improvement on traditional X-ray technology. These images are ready almost instantly after capture, do not require special chemicals to develop, and they also reduce the amount of radiation you and your loved ones are exposed to in the process. We also love them because securely-stored digital files do not take up any valuable physical storage space in our office.

Panoramic Digital X-Rays

Panoramic dental x-ray

Unlike traditional X-rays, which capture a few teeth in full detail, panoramic X-rays allow your dentist to see the entire picture of your smile in one comprehensive image. A panoramic X-ray does not show issues like cavities, but it can make infections, bone abnormalities, and the presence of wisdom/extra teeth visible. Panoramic X-rays are also invaluable in the planning stages of procedures like dental implants or tooth extraction.

Carivu Cavity Detection

Carivu cavity detection system

Catching cavities as early as possible is crucial for providing the most conservative treatment. When we can detect a weak spot in the tooth enamel before it has fully formed into a cavity, it may be possible to strengthen the area and prevent the need for a filling at all. The Carivu caries detection device uses illumination to make visible lesions and cracks that indicate cavities. With this information, we can stay one step ahead of bigger oral health issues.
